Helping to keep your family safe this summer will be the main message of the day at the Herne Bay emergency services event on the 3rd August.
Starting at 11am on the seafront, the event will feature displays and demonstrations designed to help ensure that a day at the beach doesn’t end in disaster and is remembered for all the right reasons.
Herne Bay Firefighter Dave Turner, who will be at the event, said: “This will be a good opportunity for anyone interested in the work done by the emergency services to come along and pick up some valuable information on staying safe this summer.
“Our crews have been involved in a few mud rescues already this year, so one of our aims throughout the day is to make people aware of how to stay safe around coastal areas and what to do if they get into difficulty while out walking. We’ll also be providing advice on preventing fires in the home, and explaining the often unseen dangers of swimming in open water.”
Other agencies involved in the day include:
South East Coast Ambulance Service
Coastguard
Kent Police
Kent County Council
Foreshore services
Royal National Lifeboat Institution
Air ambulance
Herne Bay Sea Cadets
Canterbury City Council
Dave added: “The event will be running until 4pm, so if you are in the area on Sunday I’d encourage you to come along and enjoy a great day out while hopefully picking up some potentially life saving tips as well.”
