Sheppey Fire Station is opening its bay doors to the public on Saturday 28 September, giving the local community the chance to meet the firefighters and see some of their equipment.
The free event, running from 10am to 4pm, offers an opportunity to look round the fire engine and fire boat and will feature a number of exciting displays aimed at helping to keep residents safe at home and on the road this autumn.
Sheppey Firefighter Steve Smart said: “This is a great opportunity for people to come along, meet the crews and pick up some potentially life-saving tips. We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to the station and hope everyone enjoys what promises to be a fun event for all age groups.”
Also attending are Kent Police, the Coastguard, Neighbourhood Watch, HMP prison dogs and St Johns Ambulance
For younger visitors there will be a chance to have their photo taken with Welephant, the fire service mascot. There will also be a range of refreshments available and all proceeds going to McMillan Cancer Support and the Fire Fighters Charity.
