Approximately 50 firefighters were called to Sheppey docks this morning following a fire in a large warehouse.
Crews were called at just after 11:20am. At its height six fire engines, and two aerial appliances along with other specialist equipment attended the scene. Three tug boats extinguished the fire from the water and crews used ground monitors to tackle the fire from the dock.
Five men were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by ambulance crews from SEcamb and the HART team. Two of the men were taken to hospital.
The warehouse, that was not in use at the time, was completely destroyed by fire. Crews remain at the scene extinguishing remaining hotspots.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
