The event will have plenty of displays and top tips from Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS), and other partner organisations, to keep you and your loved-ones safe and well.

Meet your local firefighters and see all the equipment they use to deal with a wide range of emergency incidents. Little ones can climb aboard the fire engine and have a go at knocking down the ‘flames’ on mini fire houses.

The KFRS community safety team will be running chip pan demonstrations throughout the day, showing the dangers of putting water on a hot oil fire and giving tips on avoiding a cooking fire.

Visitors can learn more about the free services and Safe and Well Visits that KFRS provides to help keep families and more vulnerable members of the community safe from fire and other risks.

There will also be basic life-support and CPR are training, including information about the public access defibrillator (PAD) located at Canterbury fire station (and all other fire stations in Kent and Medway).

Partners attending on the day include:

• HM Coast guard and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), offering advice about keeping safe around the Kent’s waterways and coastal areas.
• The British Red Cross IEC team who will be running basic life-support and CPR, as well as advice about scolds and burns.
• Highways England, with road safety advice, such as how to locate where you are on any major road way in order to inform emergency services of a precise location.
• East Kent Health improvement Community services with tips on healthy living, carrying out blood pressure and weight checks, and information around smoking and drinking.
• Kent Police’s local PCSO’s who will be available to chat to visitors about safety issues and community policing.

There will face painting (charges apply) and food and drink available to buy on the day too.
