Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue Authority (KMFRA) today (Tuesday 12 February 2019) agreed to increase the KMFRA element of Council Tax by 2.98 per cent. 

This means an increase for a family living in a band D property of four pence a week or £2.25 a year. 

This brings the cost of Council Tax for all of the round-the-clock emergency services provided by Kent Fire and Rescue Service to £77.76 a year per band D household.

The KMFRA took their decision after a public consultation from October 2018 to January 2019, asking the public for their views on the proposed level of Council Tax. The majority were in favour of an increase, with 82 per cent agreeing to accept the option of an increase of just under 3 per cent or more.
