Following an inspection by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS), Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) has responded to the findings in the report published today (22 January).

KFRS Chief Executive Ann Millington said: “It’s been a challenging year for everyone, and as a fire service we’ve quickly adapted in response to the pandemic ensuring we continue to provide a safe and effective service across the county.

“The HMICFRS inspection of 44 UK fire services focused specifically on how we adjusted and evolved our services in response Covid-19 between March and September 2020. While we’re pleased with the findings, we are acutely aware that the pandemic is evolving and we must continue to adapt and respond to support the needs of our customers.

“Over the coming months we will continue to work with our colleagues at SECAmb, Kent Police and our local councils, as well as assisting community organisations and charities where we can. Remaining paramount will be the safety of our staff as we continue to operate a resilient service – through emergency response, building safety work, educational engagement and Safe and Well home visits for people most in need.

“I want to thank our staff for their hard work and resilience, the teams of people at our partner organisations who are working tirelessly, and to everyone across Kent and Medway for playing their part in following government guidelines to protect those at risk, and in doing so helping to support our NHS. Together, we will get through this.”
