Drive: Road Safety
We are on a mission to make our roads safer.
Over the last three years, firefighters have dealt with more than 3,350 crashes, many of which involved vehicle cutting to free people trapped inside. Sadly a number of crashes have resulted in people dying or sustaining life-changing injuries which also impact lives of their families and friends.
So we want everyone to make the Drive: Road Safety Pledge and become ambassadors for responsible motoring.
Which means you agree to:
- Drive sober – Drive free of alcohol or drugs
- Drive secure – Always wear your seatbelt
- Drive alert – Take a break when you need one
- Drive slower – Reduce your speed
- Drive focussed – never use a mobile phone at the wheel
If you make the pledge at one of our events you'll get a sticker to place in your vehicle as a permanent reminder of the pledge you've made, and a visual prompt for other drivers. Our firefighters will be on the look-out for pledge stickers in vehicle windows across the county, and those spotted will be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 voucher to spend on vehicle care and maintenance (Terms and Conditions apply).
There will be opportunities to make the pledge at most KFRS events including the Kent County Show, fire station open days and the Road Safety Experience. Anyone who can’t make it to an event, can pledge online, however you won’t receive a vehicle sticker.
What's your road safety knowledge like? Take the challenge...
We have five fun challenges for you to have a go at and really test your road safety knowledge.
The challenges are designed to improve your knowledge around road safety. Throughout the campaign we will be sending out the challenges to those who have pledged and signed up to receive information, advice and tips around road safety.
But if you can't wait for that then feel free to have a go now! Just click on the one you want to do below:
The aim of the challenges are to encourage you to make a positive change around your driving habits and increase awareness of road safety, whether you're a driver or passenger.
