Recommendation 1:

By 1 October 2023, chief fire officers should make sure their services provide a confidential way for staff to raise concerns and that staff are aware of whistleblowing processes.

KFRS action:

​Colleagues can report via several routes as per our internal ‘Speak Up’ policy. ​Our ‘Speak Up’ policy has been shared with colleagues and has been in place since December 2020.This has been designed to encourage anyone to feel confident in raising concerns. As an organisation we promote a culture of open debate where serious regard is placed on concerns that are raised by anyone. 

There is also an external route that we have had in place for over five years.​​
