Kent Fire and Rescue Service attends a range of incidents including fires, road crashes, flooding, rescues from height, mud or confined spaces. It also supports other agencies including Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Martime and Coastguard Agency on a regular basis.

Scrubland fire in East Malling
Incident details
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to an area of scrubland alight in Sweets Lane, East Malling. 
 
At the height of the blaze, six fire engines were in attendance, as well as the Technical Rescue Unit, a bulk water carrier and additional support vehicles. 
 
Crews used beaters, hose reel jets and light portable pumps to tackle the flames, which had spread across an area of approximately 5,000 square metres. 
 
No casualties were reported. 
 
It’s believed the incident was caused accidentally.
