Businesses and non-domestic buildings must appoint a Responsible Person who is responsible for fire safety in your business and/or building. Under certain circumstances, Duty Holders or Accountable persons may also need to be appointed. Learn more below...

Responsible Persons

Every business must appoint a Responsible Person who is responsible for carrying out a fire risk assessment and regularly reviewing it, informing staff, maintaining fire safety measures, planning for emergencies, providing training and more.

Duty holders

In addition to an RP, a business premises may have one or more duty holders. these are people who have responsibility for one or more aspects of fire safety.
