Firefighting operations have now finished at a commercial unit fire in Hurstford Lane, Charing.

Ten fire engines and two bulk water carriers were in attendance and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used main jets, hose reel jets and compressed air foam systems to extinguish the flames.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is being investigated.

Update 12pm - Sunday 4 May

Two fire engines are still at the scene of a commercial unit fire in Hurstford Lane, Charing.

At the height of the incident ten fire engines and two bulk water carriers were in attendance and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used main jets, hose reel jets and compressed air foam system to extinguish the flames.

There are no reported injuries.

Update 7am - Sunday 4 May

Crews have made good progress through the night and people living or travelling near Hurstford Lane, Charing in Ashford are no longer being advised to close their windows and doors due to smoke coming from a fire at a commercial unit.

At the height of the incident ten fire engines and two bulk water carriers were in attendance and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used main jets, hose reel jets and compressed air foam system to extinguish the flames.

There are still three fire engines at the scene damping down and checking for hotspots.

There are no reported injuries.

Update - 10.15pm - Saturday 3 May

People living or travelling near Hurstford Lane, Charing are still being advised to close their windows and doors due to smoke coming from a fire at a commercial unit.

Ten fire engines and two bulk water carriers are currently in attendance and crews are continuing to make good progress to put out the flames.

The Volunteer Response Team are in attendance to support crew welfare.

There are no reported injuries.
