Folkestone and Hythe

Firefighters were called to reports of a house alight in Hillcrest Road (amended), Saltwood near Hythe.

Upon arrival, they discovered a detached property issuing smoke and crews wearing breathing apparatus set about tackling the flames with a main jet and a pair of high-pressure hose reel jets.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was set up to drive smoke and fumes from the property, while a height vehicle platform was used to remove roof tiles and allow access to the roof space.

There are no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.
