Earlier advice for people to avoid Rochester high street has been removed. 

Five fire engines attended the scene and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used main jets to extinguish a commercial building on fire.  

There were no reported injuries and the cause has been linked to a tumble dryer.

Advice for people to avoid Rochester high street is still in place. 

Five fire engines are currently at the scene and crews are working to extinguish the flames.

People are being asked to avoid Rochester high street - particularly around the Star Hill area - due to a road closure in place as crews extinguish a fire in a building. 

Four fire engines are currently in attendance and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, are using main jets to extinguish the flames.
