Update at 12am on 14 September:

Earlier advice to keep windows and doors closed in the Wrens Road area of Bredgar, Sittingbourne has now been lifted.

Crews have extinguished a large amount of straw that was on fire.

There were no reported injuries and the cause is not yet known.

Initial update:

People are being advised to keep windows and doors closed due smoke coming from  a large amount of straw alight in a field in Wrens Road in Bredgar, Sittingbourne.

Motorists travelling on the M2, between Junctions 5 and 6, are also being warned of the smoke which is blowing across the motorway.

One fire engine is in attendance and crews are working to extinguish the fire.
