House fire in St Mary's Bay, Romney Marsh

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire at a home in Oak Drive in St Mary's Bay, Romney Marsh.

On arrival firefighters initially found a fire in the garden of the end of terrace property involving garden furniture and fencing, which had spread to the facia and ground floor kitchen of the home. There were no reported injuries - everyone had evacuated safely.

Firefighters rescued a dog and cat from the house and placed them in the care of the family. The KFRS Volunteer Response Team was called to offer welfare and emotional support to the family. 

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used main jets and rose reel jets to tackle the fire inside the home and in the garden. The outside of the property was left with severe fire damage, the kitchen was left with extensive smoke damage, while the garden furniture was completely destroyed by fire.

The cause of the blaze isn't known at this stage.
