An outdoor fire in Dover is believed to have started accidentally when ash from a log burner was disposed of while it was still hot and caused a pile of rubbish to catch alight.

Two fire engines were sent to the scene in Archers Court Road and crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames, which damaged a neighbouring outbuilding. No injuries were reported.

Following the incident, crews are reminding people to dispose of ash safely and responsibility, and to ensure it has completely cooled before being discarded.
