Whether it's the feeling of freedom, the skills you learn or just enjoying the company of others, biking is a great way to spend time.
As a biker, you're always learning, but would you know what to do if you saw or were involved in an crash where a biker was down?
Kent Fire and Rescue Service free 'Biker Down' courses are managed by our experienced 'fire bike' team. They are designed to help you deal with an incident if you're involved in or see one, care for any casualties, and learn about the different ways to see and be seen.

Biker Down Course
If you are present at the time of a motorbike crash, knowing what to do is vital. Our Biker Down courses will provide you with essential skills and knowledge designed to help you deal with what you may encounter.
The course consists of one session which lasts 3-4 hours and is made up of three modules. Delivered by one of our firefighters or life support instructors, the course is interactive and lively. As well as hands-on experience, there will be discussions and questions. At the end of the course you will receive a certificate of attendance, information handout and a medical data carrier 'crash card' which can be attached to your helmet.
The course is suitable for all bikers ranging from beginner to advanced.
Course modules

Incident scene management
Learn how to ensure the safety of people at the scene, tend to the fallen rider, offer first aid and alert the emergency services.

Casualty care
How to deal with motorcycle-related first aid such as typical trauma, leg injury, major bleeds, basic life support and crash helmet removal.

The thinking biker
Learn how we interpret what we see, including the phenomenas of motion camouflage, looming, and 'saccadic masking', plus advice on being seen.

Biker Down is delivered by Fire and Rescue Services across the UK. The course is dedicated to helping bikers deal with incidents they may come across or be involved in.
