Update 10.00am, 17/01/19Firefighting concluded at 8.38am this morning aboard a boat in Knight Road, Rochester. The boat was completely destroyed by the fire, and an adjacent boat at the mooring sustained some heat and smoke damage.One man was taken to hospital after breathing in smoke. Crews were first alerted to the blaze at around 8.10pm. Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus are using main jets to fight the fire, which is now under control.KFRS’ volunteer response team have also been sent to provide support at the scene and a Red Cross support vehicle has also been requested. --------------------Kent Fire and Rescue Service is asking people in the Knight Road, Rochester area to keep doors and windows closed as a precaution, due to a large amount of smoke in the area.Fire crews are currently tackling a fire on-board a house boat. Around 22 firefighters, four fire engines, a command support unit and a bulk water carrier are at the scene.A man is being treated for the effects of breathing in smoke by fire crews.
