Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of an electrical unit alight at a substation on Maidstone Road, Gillingham.

Two fire engines attended, and crews used hose reel jets, main jets and dry powder to extinguish the flames. 

Four people were checked over by SECAmb paramedics for mild smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, caused by an electrical fault.
