Firefighting operations are now complete at scene of a fire involving a bungalow roof alight on Scrapsgate Road in Minster on Sea, Sheerness. 

There were no reported injuries and the cause is not yet known. 

The Broadway road has also re-opened and people are no longer advised to avoid the area. Please share this update with anyone in the affected area, who might not have access to the internet. Thank you.

Update at 9:00pm 

Three fire engines and the Technical rescue unit remain at the scene of a roof fire at a Bungalow on Scrapsgate Road, Sheerness.

Crews are making good progress and the earlier advice to close windows and doors has now been lifted. However The Broadway road is still closed.

There are no reported injuries and the Volunteer Response Team are also in attendance.

People living near to Scrapsgate Road in Minster on Sea, Sheerness are advised to close windows and doors due to smoke coming from a roof fire. Please be advised that The Broadway road is also closed temporarily.

Six fire engines are at the scene, where crews are working to extinguish the flames.
