Kent Fire and Rescue Service attends a range of incidents including fires, road crashes, flooding, rescues from height, mud or confined spaces. It also supports other agencies including Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Martime and Coastguard Agency on a regular basis.

Large corn field fire in Gillingham

Update at 09:40 on 31 July: 
 
Firefighters worked to tackle the blaze, and wind caused the fire to spread to pine trees and outbuildings. Crews used compressed air foam to prevent fire spread to two nearby houses and a barn. 
 
The cause isn’t known but it is not being treated as suspicious.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to a large fire in a cut corn field in Ham Lane, Gillingham. At the height of the blaze, ten fire engines and a bulk water carrier attended the scene, and crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames and prevented further fire spread. There were no reported casualties and the cause is not yet known.
