Kent Fire and Rescue Service attends a range of incidents including fires, road crashes, flooding, rescues from height, mud or confined spaces. It also supports other agencies including Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Martime and Coastguard Agency on a regular basis.

Large industrial unit fire - Higham, Rochester
Incident details
Update: 9:20 
Attendance at the industrial unit fire in Canal Road, Higham has been reduced to three fire engines and a height vehicle, as crews continue to damp down remaining hotspots. Residents have been advised that they no longer need to keep windows and doors closed, as the smoke from the fire has cleared. 
 
Update 7:45 
The smoke from this fire has now cleared and residents can reopen windows and doors as desired. Crews are now damping down any remaining hot spots. 
 
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire in an industrial center on Canal Road, Higham, Rochester. The fire which involved one building making up four units was tackled by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using main jets, compressed air foam system, ground monitors and cold cut firefighting systems. This incident utilised the use of eight fire engines, a bulk water carrier and a height vehicle along with a command support unit. 
Residents of the immediate area and those in Gravesend and Chalk are urged to keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke that the fire is producing.
