Large fire at warehouses in Ramsgate

UPDATE: 8.40am Tuesday 9 Aug 2016 
Firefighters are still at the scene of a large fire involving warehouses in Monkton Street, Ramsgate. The incident was reduced to two fire engines at 8.30pm and one fire engine remained at the scene throughout the night, using a hose reel to damp down. It is anticipated that the incident will be handed over to the owner at around 9am after a final assessment has been made. 
 
UPDATE: 4.20pm 
Residents are advised that is no longer necessary to keep windows and doors closed due to the fire in Monkton Street, Ramsgate. Firefighters remain on the scene of the blaze involving a range of storage buildings that have been destroyed by fire. Crews worked hard to bring the fire under control and to prevent the fire from spreading to further property. They also salvaged farm equipment. Crews are using a water shuttle and have ground monitors in place cooling the boundary of the fire. Firefighters are likely to be at the scene for some time dealing with the aftermath of the blaze. The road has now reopened. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Eight fire engines remain on the scene tackling a large fire involving warehouses in Monkton Street, Ramsgate. Crews are using ground monitors to protect neighbouring properties and to contain the fire. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Monkton Street has been closed. Residents and people working in the area are being reminded to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.

WARN & INFORM: Residents and people working in the vicinity of Monkton Street, Ramsgate are being advised to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to a large fire in the area. 
 
Firefighters are dealing with a large fire involving warehouses in Monkton Street, Monkton in Ramsgate. Eight fire engines are on the scene. Updates to follow.
