People living near Chilmington Green in Great Chart, Ashford, are no longer advised to keep windows and doors closed. 

The earlier advice was issued by crews tackling a fire a storage yard in the area, which has now been extinguished with hose reel jets and compressed air foam.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

Update at 10pm on 11 August:

Crews are advising people living near Chilmington Green to keep windows and doors closed overnight due to smoke plumes in the area coming from a fire at a yard.

Firefighters created a break to prevent the fire from spreading to the field and are working to extinguish a fire involving scaffolding boards.

The incident has been scaled down to three fire engines, and crews are making good progress.
