Large field fire in Preston, Canterbury

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a large field fire in Preston, near Canterbury.

Two fire engines attended and crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

There are no reported injuries and the cause is believed to be an out of control bonfire that spread to dry grass.

If you're planning a bonfire, Kent Fire and Rescue Service advises:

• Keep bonfires to a manageable size, and build them clear of property and greenery 
• Supervise the burning at all times 
• When having a bonfire always keep a bucket of water or hosepipe nearby  
• If a bonfire gets out of control, move to safe place and call 999
