Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire in the garage of a property in Stonerock Close, Sturry. The initial call related to a propane gas cylinder alight in the garage; this fire then spread to the garage itself. On arrival crews found all occupants of the property had evacuated safely, but a woman in her 40s needed oxygen therapy for smoke inhalation and first aid for minor burns to her arm. Firefighters used main jets and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire. Crews checked the property for potential fire spread. The Red Cross Volunteer team were in attendance to offer emotional and welfare support for the family.
