Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a flat fire in Bodycomb Street at Castle Hill, Ebbsfleet.

Six fire engines and a height vehicle attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus used main jets to extinguish the flames.

Four people were believed to have been affected by smoke inhalation, and two people suffered serious burns. All those affected were passed into the care of SECAmb and HEMS paramedics.

Due to smoke and water affecting other areas of the building, residents were evacuated. The KFRS Volunteer Support Team attended to provide support to those affected.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and started by an electric scooter that was on charge.
