A kitchen fire in Dartford is believed to have started accidentally after a pan of cooking oil was left unattended.

Two fire engines were sent to the flat in Priory Road, where crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished a fire on the hob using hose reel jets.

No injuries were reported, and KFRS’ volunteer response team also attended to offer support and advice to affected residents.

It’s important to take care extra care in the kitchen and to keep cooking areas clean and clear of anything which could catch alight.

Remember not leave cooking unattended, and make sure you switch it off if you have to leave the room.
