Dover
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire involving a large shed on the property of a home in Stonehall Road, Lydden near Dover. On arrival crews found a large shed well alight; using a hose reel jet firefighters extinguished the fire. there were no reported injuries and the cause is thought to have been accidental. It's believed the fire was started as a result of hot coals from a previous fire being stored too close to the shed. The incident has prompted firefighters to offer advice to anyone planning on having a bonfire, barbecue or a fire pit this summer. - Fully extinguish the fire once your finished with it, and to never leave it unattended. - By fully extinguishing the coals and embers means a reduced risk of the fire causing any damage to neighbouring property. - Dousing the coals with water until fully out and letting the coals cool is the best way to make sure your fire is out before disposing of the coals. - Never place hot coals in a plastic bin- Never bury disposable barbecues under the sand on the beach.
