Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a barn alight on Burmash Road in New Romney.

Four fire engines and a bulk water carrier was in attendance at the height of the incident. Crews used hose-reel jets and main jets to extinguish the fire.

There are no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

 

Update: 19 August 11pm

People living or travelling near Burmarsh Road in Burmarsh, New Romney are no longer being advised to close windows and doors. This was due to smoke coming from a large outbuilding alight in the area.

Three fire engines remain in attendance, and crews are using hose-reel jets and main jets to extinguish the fire.
