Update: Firefighting work is complete at the scene of a fire in Raspberry Hill Lane, Iwade, near Sittingbourne. Four fire engines attended and crews used hose reels and a light portable pump to bring the fire under control. One fire engine remained on the scene to maintain a watching brief while the fire burned itself out under controlled conditions, but all crews have now left the site. No casualties were reported. The earlier advice to close windows and doors has been lifted. ......................................... People living in Iwade village near Sittingbourne are advised to close windows and doors as a precaution, due to smoke coming from a fire in Raspberry Hill Lane. Two fire engines responded to reports of a large out of control bonfire, and crews worked to make the area safe. One fire engine remains on the scene to maintain a watching brief as it burns itself out under controlled conditions – as a result a smoke plume may been seen in the area. There are no reported casualties and the fire is being treated as suspicious.
