Update 10:30am 5/02/19Firefighters remain at the scene of a barn fire in Boyton Court Road, Sutton Valence.This incident was reduced to one fire engine at 7.30 am today and firefighters are damping down and turning over any remaining hot spots. At its height, four fire engines, a height vehicle and a bulk water carrier were sent to deal with a well-established fire in the two-storey barn used as a house. Firefighters worked hard throughout the night to tackle the fire, which affected the whole of the timber-framed building. A bulk water carrier was used to convey large quantities of water to the scene, to extinguish the fire. Crews used compressed air foam to create a protective barrier on surrounding buildings due to the intense heat and falling embers from the fire, and successfully prevented the blaze from spreading to further properties. Local power was isolated as a precaution, while this incident is being dealt with.There were no casualties, and the residents’ cat was also found safe and well.The cause of the fire, which destroyed the property, is not yet known.........................................................................Kent Fire and Rescue Service is dealing with a fire in a property in Boyton Court Road, Sutton Valence near Maidstone. The road has been closed and local power has been isolated as a precaution, therefore surrounding properties may experience a power outage while this incident is dealt with.
