Following investigation work, it's believed the fire at The Dirty Habit pub in Hollingbourne, Maidstone, started accidentally in the kitchen.

Firefighters are damping down remaining hotspots at The Dirty Habit pub in Hollingbourne, near Maidstone, and are working with local authority building control officers to make the scene safe.

The roads surrounding the pub are expected to remain closed until at least midday tomorrow (11 October).

The cause of the fire is not yet known. 
 

Update at 10.10am on Monday 10 October

Three fire engines and a height vehicle remain at The Dirty Habit pub blaze in Hollingbourne, Maidstone. Crews are continuing to work to extinguish the fire that’s been ongoing since yesterday evening. 

There are no reported injuries.

Earlier advice to avoid the area remains in place, with Upper Street, Hollingbourne Hill and Pilgrims Way all set to stay closed for several hours.

Firefighters have been tackling a blaze at The Dirty Habit pub in Upper Street, Hollingbourne near Maidstone, through the night.
 
Six fire engines, a height vehicle, bulk water carrier, technical rescue team, command support unit, and KFRS’ volunteer response team remain in attendance this morning.

There are no reported injuries. 

The surrounding roads are expected to be closed for several hours while the fire service works at the scene – please avoid Upper Street, Pilgrims Way and Hollingbourne Hill.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is responding to a fire in a pub in Upper Street, Hollingbourne, near Maidstone.

Twelve fire engines, a height vehicle, and a command support unit are at the scene. Kent Police is also in attendance.

Residents from nearby properties have been evacuated.
