Final Update - 10.45am - Monday 18 August

Firefighting operations have now finished at the farm in Meresborough Road, Rainham where a number of apple crates were on fire.  

Residents are no longer being advised to keep their windows and doors closed.

At the height of the incident, six fire engines and a bulk water carrier attended and crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames and help prevent the fire spreading to other parts of the farm.

Update - 7am - Monday 18 August

Crews have maintained a watching brief overnight and are dampening down remaining hotspots.

One fire engine remains in attendance.

Update - 10.30pm - Sunday 17 August

People living or travelling near Rainham are no longer being advised to close windows and doors due to smoke coming from an earlier farm fire in Meresborough Road.  

Attendance at this incident has been reduced to one fire engine. Crews have successfully prevented the fire from spreading and are currently maintaining a watching brief.

Six fire engines and a bulk water carrier are currently in attendance and crews are working hard to contain the fire and extinguish the flames.
