Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a flat fire on Fox Street in Gillingham. Four fire engines were sent to the scene and crews arrived to fire and black smoke issuing from the third floor of the building. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a short extension ladder, a hose reel jet and covering jet to tackle the blaze. Two occupants were outside on arrival and passed into the care of South East Coast Ambulance (SECAMb) paramedics to be treated for smoke inhalation. The cause is believed to be accidental.
