Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a house fire on Seagull Road, Rochester.
Three fire engines attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
The KFRS Volunteer Response Team also attended to supported residents.
One person was passed into the care of SECAmb for precautionary checks.
Sadly, one pet bird died.
