7 Incident Saturday 25 July 2026 13:31
Sevenoaks
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a wildfire in Hever Road, Edenbridge.
At the height of the fire, control operators sent 10 fire engines, a bulk water carrier and two off-road vehicles to the scene.
The main seats of fire had been extinguished just after 10pm last night (25 July), and crews returned to the scene today (26 July) to check for any remaining hotspots.
No injuries have been reported, and the cause is not yet known.
People are being reminded to take extra care during prolonged periods of hot weather, when the ground is extremely dry and fires are more likely to start and spread.
You can help to reduce the risk of an emergency, by:
- Not throwing cigarettes onto the ground
- Taking your rubbish home with you – reflective litter can easily start a fire
- Not lighting barbecues near grass, undergrowth, overhanging branches, or property
- Avoiding having bonfires or campfires when the ground is dry and the weather is windy
If you see a grass fire, move to safe distance and call 999 for the fire service.
