Firefighting operations are now complete at Elmley National Nature Reserve.

Crews are no longer advising those living or travelling near Shellness and Leysdown to keep windows and doors closed.

At the height of the incident, four fire engines were in attendance. Crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used main jets and wildfire equipment to extinguish the flames.

There are no reported injuries and the cause is unknown.

Crews are continuing to advise those living or travelling near Shellness and Leysdown to keep windows and doors closed due to heavy wildfire smoke.

Four fire engines remain at the scene and crews are continuing to make good progress containing the fire.
