Kent Fire and Rescue Service attends a range of incidents including fires, road crashes, flooding, rescues from height, mud or confined spaces. It also supports other agencies including Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Martime and Coastguard Agency on a regular basis.

Strood disused building fire

UPDATE 4.35pm Crews are still tackling the fire, which has been contained to one building and it will shortly be reduced to two fire engines. There are no reports of any casualties. Duty of care was handed to a building control officer at 5.12pm. 
 
Approximately 20 firefighters are at the scene of a fire in a disused building in Darnley Road, Strood. Crews wearing breathing apparatus are using hose reels and compressed air foam to tackle the blaze. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage and motorists are advised to avoid the area due to traffic congestion.
