Incident
Garage fire in Rainham
Incident details
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) was called to reports of a garage alight in Broadview Avenue, in Rainham, Gillingham.

At the height of the fire, seven fire engines and a height vehicle were in attendance.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets and water from a hydrant to extinguish the flames, before dampening down any remaining hot spots and carrying out salvage work.

No casualties have been reported.

KFRS’ Volunteer Response Team also attended to offer support to affected residents.

It’s believed the fire started in a garage and spread to the roof and first floor of a nearby house, as well as the roof space of a second house.

The cause is not yet known.
