Fire affecting multiple houses in Gravesend

Update on 27 June: 

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 13.10 on 26 June to Jubilee Crescent, in Gravesend, where a garden fire was spreading to several properties. 

At the height of the incident, nine fire engines, a height vehicle and the technical rescue team were in attendance. 

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used main jets and hose reel jets to extinguish the flames and stop the fire from spreading further. One property was destroyed and two others were damaged as a result of the incident. 

No fire-related injuries were reported.

KFRS’ Volunteer Response team also attended to provide support, welfare and advice to anyone affected.

All KFRS teams had left the scene by around 20.30 and duty of care was left with the relevant housing association. 

It’s believed the fire started accidentally, after spreading from a discarded cigarette. 

Following the incident, firefighters are reminding people to always ensure cigarettes, cigars and any other smoking materials, are not left unattended when lit and to check they are completely out before being properly disposed of.

Firefighting activity has now been completed and all fire engines have now left the scene.

Update: 17:25 on 26 June

Crews are making good progress in fighting the fire externally from the height vehicle and main jets and internally crews wearing breathing apparatus are tackling the fire with hose reel jets.

This incident has been reduced down to five fire engines.

No injuries have been reported at this incident.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service are currently at the scene of a fire on Jubilee Crescent, Gravesend which is affecting multiple properties.

There are currently nine fire engines, a height vehicle and the technical rescue team in attendance.

Crews are asking that local residents avoid the area whilst this incident is on going.
