The fire at Conyer Quay is now out. Every shed and outbuilding involved in the fire has been destroyed. An investigation into the blaze will take place.

 

Update at 12:30 on Saturday 30 July 2022:

Kent Fire and Rescue Service remain at the scene of the fire involving sheds and outbuildings in Conyer Quay near Sittingbourne.

Firefighting has continued throughout the morning and firefighters have made good progress, the incident has been reduced to two fire engines. KFRS' Technical Rescue unit has also been at the scene to support the firefighting tactics with the use of it's telehandler vehicle.

Firefighters are damping down hot spots and turning over. The cause isn't yet known, there were no other reported injuries.

People living in the Conyer area are no longer required to keep windows and doors closed. If you know anyone not online, please share this information, thank you.

 

Update at 07:30 on Saturday 30 July 2022:

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is at the scene of a large fire involving a range of sheds and outbuildings at Conyer Quay near Sittingbourne. 

Six fire engines have been sent to the scene. 

People living in the Conyer area are being asked to close windows and doors due to the large amount of black smoke being generated by the blaze.

A man in his 40s has been treated for smoke inhalation and for minor burns to his arm and shoulder. He has been placed into the care of SECAmb paramedics. 

The KFRS Volunteer Response Team has been mobilised to the scene to support with welfare.
