Firefighters are urging residents to take care when using outdoor fire pits, chimineas and braziers, following a fire in the back garden of a home in Foord Street, Rochester. 

Two fire engines attended, and crews used a hose reel jet to put the fire out which had spread from a brazier to an outdoor sofa and wood materials in the garden, and caused damage the rear of the property.

There were no reported injuries. 

Anyone lighting a controlled burn such as a bonfire, fire pit, or brazier, is advised to keep it small and well away from anything that could catch alight including property, fences and greenery. Remember to supervise the burning at all times.
