Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Sandpiper Close in Greenhithe, near Dartford, to reports of a fire in four-storey block of flats.

Control sent six fire engines and height vehicle to the scene, and crews searched the building to evacuate residents. Firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the fire in a ground floor flat and prevented fire spread to surrounding flats. Crews also rescued a dog from the smoke logged flat above. 

KFRS' volunteer response team was in attendance to provide support to impacted residents. 

There were no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is not known.
