Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Stream Lane, in Hawkhurst, near Cranbrook, to reports of a tumble dryer alight in a garage. 

Two fire engines attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus put the fire out using a hose reel jet. 

There were no reported injuries. 

Following this incident, firefighters are reminding people to remove lint from tumble dryers before use to reduce the risk of a fire, and to only run appliances when you’re at home and awake.
