30+ Incident Tuesday 12 December 2023 16:13
Tonbridge and Malling
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called this afternoon to reports of two vehicles and passengers stranded in flood water on New Barn Road in Hawkenbury, Tonbridge, which also led to the road being blocked.
Three fire engines attended and crews wearing dry suits walked one vehicle safely out of the water. Unfortunately the other vehicle had a handbrake on that they were unable to activate, so this incident was handed over to Kent Police who closed the road and dealt with the remaining vehicle's recovery.
Following the incidents, firefighters are reminding people to never attempt to drive through flooded roads because it can often look deeper than it looks, and leave your vehicle to become stranded.
