Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire at a house on Herne Bay Road in Whitstable.
Two fire engines attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames, before ventilating the property.
One person was suffering with smoke inhalation and was passed into the care of SECAmb paramedics.
It’s believed the fire started from the hob being left on.
Following the incident, firefighters are reminding people of the importance to take care extra care in the kitchen and to keep cooking areas clean and clear of anything which could catch alight.
