Update: 10pm on 10 July

People living or travelling near Sheppey Way, on the Isle of Sheppey are no longer being advised to keep their doors and windows closed following a wildfire earlier today.

Crews have been dampening down over the last few hours and a revisit to the area will be made in the morning to check for any further hotspots.

Update: 7.15pm on 10 July

Crews are making good progress at the wildfire on Sheppey Way, Isle of Sheppey.

The fire is out and crews are dampening down and extinguishing any remaining hotspots. 

People living or travelling in the area are still being urged to keep windows and doors closed due to the amount of smoke still coming from the scene.

Update: 3.45pm on 10 July

The advice for those living or travelling near Sheppey Way, on the Isle of Sheppey, to close their windows and doors remains in place.

Four fire engines and a Utility Terrain Vehicle remain at the scene and crews are using hose reel jets and beaters to extinguish the fire.

There are no reported injuries and the cause is not yet known.
