After crews revisited the scene, no remaining hotspots were found, and firefighting operations are now complete. Firefighters will continue to monitor this periodically to make sure the site remains safe.

Update: 16.00pm - 8 October

Crews are no longer advising those living or working near Crete Hall Road in Gravesend to keep windows and doors closed.

At the height of the incident, ten fire engines, a height vehicle, a bulk water carrier and a high volume pump attended.

Crews have used on-site machinery, ground monitors and the firefighting robot to contain and extinguish the flames.

The KFRS Volunteer Response Team also attended to support crews.

There are no reported injuries and the cause is not yet known.

Update: 13.23pm - 8 October

Firefighters are continuing to advise anyone who lives or works near Crete Hall Road in Gravesend to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke from a fire at a scrap metal site.

Six fire engines, a height vehicle, and a high volume pump remain in attendance, whilst ground monitors and onsite machinery is being used to breakdown the scrap and extinguish the flames, alongside the KFRS firefighting robot.

The KFRS Volunteer Response Team is also in attendance to support crews.

The advice to keep windows and doors closed for those living or working in the Crete Hall Road area of Gravesend remains in place, due to smoke.

Six fire engines, a height vehicle and high volume pump are in attendance, whilst crews are using ground monitors and on site machinery to contain and extinguish the fire.

The KFRS firefighting robot has also been deployed.

Crews are continuing to advise everyone to keep windows and doors closed if they live or work in the Crete Hall Road area of Gravesend, due to smoke coming from a scrap metal site fire.

Ten fire engines and a bulk water carrier are currently in attendance, and crews are working hard containing and extinguishing the flames using ground monitors.

There are no reported injuries.
