Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a car fire between J5 and J4 of the M2.
Two fire engines attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
